getting-ready-for-the-day-michael-anthony-salon-dcCovid-19 has been hard on all of us. It has taken a toll in so many ways; physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. Even those fortunate enough to be healthy and employed are just plain sick of the isolation. We long to get back together without fear or risk.

It will come, but we’re not there yet. So, this is a love note to those who are still working from home.

“I’d like to remind you that you are worth a little fuss!” – Mickey

Working from home has taken us from two-piece suits to sweatsuits, from blowouts to ponytails and messy buns. With the days just kind of running into each other and a commute down the hall instead of across town, it’s easy to forget about all the benefits of self-care. If you have fallen out of practice or gotten a little lazy with your getting-ready-for-the-day routines, I’d like to remind you that you are worth a little fuss!

When you take the time to select an outfit, shower, shampoo, blowdry, apply at least a little make-up (or a shave, fellas), eat a good breakfast, and smile into the mirror that smiles back, you’ll experience a pick-me-up for your professional self. Even if you think your colleagues don’t care (they probably look pretty bedhead, too), your own self-image and attitude will shine a little bit brighter. You may even enjoy those zoom meetings a little bit more.

Haircare

I have noticed that some clients are extending the time between appointments in ways they would never have in the past. When a 6-week color becomes a 10 or 12-week color, it is no wonder that the look gets a little washed out.  Getting your hair cut or colored regularly can help you feel much better about yourself and how you present to others.

I challenge you all to get back in a routine with your stylist and book your appointments in advance to help kick start a new routine or return to your old one.  Plus, if you are a color client, the longer you wait between appointments, the more time, work, and money you will spend to get your hair back to where you like it.

And seriously, there is no reason to give up the fuzzy slippers or throw the cat off your lap! There’s got to be some payoff for working from home.

Be safe and enjoy your hair!
