How often should I wash my hair? This is a question that I hear frequently from my customers at Michael Anthony Salon. They want to maintain the salon style perfection, starting with their shampoo. I don’t think that there is one answer that works for everyone. What matters is your hair, lifestyle, and personal preferences. Here’s why…
There’s No One-Size-Fits-All for Hair Care
Everyone’s hair is different. For example, oily hair needs more frequent shampooing than dry or chemically treated hair. If your hair is fine and tends to go limp, you probably want to wash and style more frequently than someone with thick curly locks. Personal care routines vary. Many of us start the day with a shower and include hair washing and styling in that routine. It feels right! Others prefer to skip a day or two in between shampoos – and their hair is just fine with that.
Shampoo + Conditioner = Balanced Natural Oils
The key to clean and healthy hair is using the right type of shampoo and conditioner. Shampooing does remove natural oils, so it is important to replenish nutrients, proteins, and moisture levels with the proper conditioner. If you are worried about dryness, select a shampoo without sulfates. Whatever the type and condition of your hair, there are products available that are formulated specifically to meet your unique needs. To name a few, there are shampoos that volumize, moisturize, smooth for frizz control, and restructure for damage control.
As a Michael Anthony Salon DC Focus Salon, we are committed to bringing you top-quality products. We offer many shampoos and conditioners that nourish your hair while retaining the natural moisture balance of the hair and scalp. The choices are many!
When You Shampoo at Home
Our customers rave about our salon shampoos. The head and neck massage are relaxing and restorative – the ultimate in pampering. No one can DIY that experience, but you can enhance your at-home shampoo with these tips:
- Use the coolest setting for washing that is comfortable for you.
- Concentrate the shampoo on your scalp and massage for at least 30 seconds. It feels great.
- Apply the conditioner from the tips to the roots of your hair. If your hair is fine, concentrate on just the tips.
- For your final rinse use cool temperature water to seal the hair cuticles. The extra moisture makes it shinier.
At Michael Anthony Salon DC, we know that how you wash, and the products you use can go a long way toward maintaining smooth, shiny, and healthy hair. Your system of hair care should fit your lifestyle, your preferences, and the characteristics of your hair.
Enjoy your hair!
